The trial is a full evaluation of the platform. The retainer is the upgrade for a working chamber — more instruments, more Desk folders, and allowance that carries forward.

An instrument is one output generated through Legalise. A petition, application, affidavit, notice, agreement, compiled case briefing, Matter Reviewer report, Adverse Reviewer report, or any other generated legal output counts as one instrument against your cycle allowance. Editing a saved document, downloading it again, storing it at Desk, or sharing it does not consume an instrument. Only the act of generation is counted.
At the end of each billing cycle inside your four month contract, any instruments you did not use carry to the next cycle at half their count. The carried amount is added to the next cycle’s 120 instrument allowance.
You finish a cycle with 40 unused instruments. 20 carry forward. Your next cycle begins with 120 + 20 = 140 instruments available.
At the end of the four month retainer, unused instruments carry into the next contract on renewal, subject to a ceiling. If fewer than 100 instruments remain, the full balance carries over. If more than 100 remain, the carryover is capped at 100 and the surplus lapses. Renewal must be completed within a seven day grace period from contract end. After the grace period the balance is forfeited and a fresh allowance begins on re-subscription.
End of contract with 78 unused. Renew within 7 days. 78 carry forward.
End of contract with 134 unused. Renew within 7 days. 100 carry forward, 34 lapse.
End of contract with any balance. Renewed on day 9. Balance forfeited.
Subscribing during the 20 day trial immediately ends the trial and converts the account to the four month retainer. The trial begins at the member’s first verified sign-in; on subscription, the trial’s 10 instrument cap is replaced with the full 120 instrument allowance from the moment of paid activation. Unused trial instruments do not carry over. Trial members are not penalised for upgrading early.
Refund requests are considered within the first month of the four month contract only, and only where fewer than one third of the cycle’s instruments (i.e. less than 40 of 120) have been generated. Beyond the first month, or after the one third usage threshold is crossed, the retainer is non-refundable. Decisions are at the discretion of the Legalise registrar.
Stated price is inclusive of applicable charges. Tax invoice issued to the registered member on request. Invoice carries member number, contract dates, and instrument allowance for the billing period. Suitable for chamber expense records.
The retainer runs for its full four month term. Members may decline renewal at any point. Cancellation does not trigger a refund outside the conditions above. No automatic re-billing. Renewal is a deliberate act by the member within the seven day grace window.
